A resident of Lagos State has been killed while struggling to buy fuel amid the current scarcity of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS popularly called petrol in the country
The male resident whose identity has not been ascertained was shot dead by the Law enforcement agency at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) mega filling station in Obalende area of Lagos
The deceased was said to have engaged in an argument with another person at the filling station over whose turn it was to buy fuel on Wednesday.
It was during the argument and scuffle that the deceased was shot dead. The killer fled the scene immediately according to SaharaReporters
However, there are conflicting reports regarding the identity of the killer, as some witnesses said the killer was a policeman while others said he was an operative of the Department of State Services (DSS).
It was gathered that following the escape of the killer, angry youths in the area went wild and burnt two Hilux vehicles belonging to the police and the DSS.
The incident caused tension around the fuel station and residents were advised to stay indoors until normalcy returned.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin is yet to comment on the incident as of press time.
