Popular Lagos socialite, Erelu Okin, otherwise known as Pearl Chidinma Ogbolu, has broken his silence following court judgement.
Recall, DAILY GIST reported that Erelu Okin was sentenced to 2years imprisonment for distributing petrol as souvenir at a party.
The socialite was first arraigned on March 14 for distributing petrol as souvenir during her installation party on March 5, at the Havillah Event Centre in Lagos state.
She pleaded not guilty then, but changed her plea to guilty on Thursday when the case came up for hearing.
The socialite was said to have violated Section 251(1), 168 (1), 244 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015, and Section 195 (2)(b) of the Environmental Management Protection Law of the state, 2017.
Delivering judgement on the matter, Chief Magistrate Kehinde Ogundare sentenced her to three months imprisonment or option of N15,000 fine on the first count of the charge.
The magistrate court ordered the defendant to pay N1 million fine on the second and third count of the charge or face two years imprisonment.
However, speaking on Saturday, Erelu Okin confirmed that she was fined one million naira as option for the imprisonment which was paid in full for distributing kegs of petrol as souvenirs at her installation party.
She disclosed this via her official Instagram page, expressing thanks to God that she is finally out of court. The Erelu Okin also appreciated the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Attorney General of Lagos State, Dr Muir Banire, and his awesome team of lawyers for their help in her case.
She wrote, “You are God and God alone. Thank you everyone that has taken time to call, come through and has seen me through this. Today I decided to take the fall for everything so that the said hall can go back into business and I can finally get some good sleep.
”I was paid in full Thank you our dear Lagos state governor, the Attorney general of Lagos state, Dr Muir Banire and his awesome team of lawyers. We are now out of court! To God be the glory! Now let’s go back to touching lives of people. As Erelu Okin my mission is to beautify lives. God bless you all.”
