The Court of Appeal sitting in Akure, Ondo State has given a new update on the appeal filed by the Dr. Ramon Adedoyin over the death sentence handed on him and three of his staff by the Osun State High court.
DAILY GIST reported that Adedoyin and three others were found guilty of conspiracy to murder and murder of a master student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Timothy Adegoke by the court presided over by Osun Chief Judge, Adepele Ojo.
Adegoke was allegedly killed in November 2021, at Hilton Hotel, Ile-Ife, where he had lodged.
Two other staff were set free and acquitted while one was sentenced to two-year imprisonment over involvement.
The judgement was delivered on May 30, 2023 in Osogbo.
Apparently not satisfied with the judgement, Adedoyin, the owner of Hilton hotel in Ile-ife and founder of Oduduwa University filed an appeal at the court to challenge his death sentencing.
However, the appeal suffered a setback on Tuesday.
DAILY GIST gathered that the matter before the appellate court was adjourned indefinitely, as there were many cases before it, hence his appeal was not mentioned.
At the court sitting on Tuesday, it was learnt that more than 25 cases came up during the proceedings, hence there was no time to mention Adedoyin’s case.
A court official told Reporters that the case was not called because so many cases were heard on the same day.
He added that the case had been adjourned till another date thats would be agreed upon after due consultation by the appellant and respondents’ counsels.
