A female student of Obafemi Obafemi Awolowo University ile-ife has reportedly died on Thursday evening after being denied treatment at the University Health centre.
The student identified as Adesina Aishat Omowunmi, DAILY GIST gathered until her death was a 400L student of Foreign Language.
Eyewitnesses told DAILY GIST on Thursday evening that Aishat who was seriously sick was rushed to the university health centre but didn’t get treatment.
Upon arrival at the University health, Aishat was denied treatment by the health centre management who insisted on presentation of her health centre card or school identity card, DAILY GIST was told.
This is not the first time a student will die over negligence by the Doctors and staffs at the University health center
Great ife students are currently at the University health center showing thier grievances on the development.
Nigerian law mandates that all emergency cases be treated promptly and even prescribes fine and jail sentence for hospitals and their management that fail to treat such cases.
The public relation officer of the university, Olarewaju Abiodun could not be reached as at the time of filling this report.
