Operatives of the Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested 117 suspected internet fraudsters in Lagos.
This was contained in a statement issued by the anti-graft agency on its X handle.
The suspects were arrested at Regional Hotel, Iyana-Ishasi, Lagos in a sting operation, following verified intelligence about their alleged involvement in computer-related fraud.
Items recovered from the suspects, at the point of arrest, include mobile phones, laptop computers and four cars.
The anti-graft agency added that they will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
DAILY GIST reported earlier that the EFCC operatives had raided the regional hotel in Lagos.
A female staff was said to have been assaulted during the raid by the officers.
However, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has ordered the arrest and investigation of two EFCC officers involved in the assault.
