Reports reaching DAILY GIST on Saturday morning has confirmed that some residents of Inalende, Abebi and Oopo areas of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, are currently fleeing the area following fresh clashes between different gangs which led to loss of more lives on Friday.
DAILY GIST on Saturday was told that some residents of the areas started leaving their houses on Friday evening due to fear of fresh attack at night.
The latest gang war started on Wednesday and two persons were reportedly killed.
The gang in Oopo, which suffered losses, vowed to revenge and made good their promise Thursday through to Friday
As at the time of filling this report, the number of persons killed in the fresh clashes is still sketchy.
While some alleged that seven were killed others claimed 11 lives were lost.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Adewale Osifeso, while reacting said there was crisis in the areas but noted that the number of casualties could not be immediately ascertained yet.
He said investigation had begun into the clash and more policemen had been deployed to beef up security there.
The PPRO said, “The incident actually happened.However, Investigations are in top gear to establish the number of casualties and circumstances that led to the incident.
“Additional policemen have since been deployed to the scene to maintain law and order. You would be updated in due course.”
