Recall DAILY GIST had reported how a female student of the university died on Thursday evening after being denied treatment at the University Health centre before giving up the ghost.
The student identified as Adesina Aishat Omowunmi, DAILY GIST gathered until her death was a 400L student of Foreign Language.
The Students of Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife who gathered in Large numbers on Friday morning are currently protesting as a result of Aishat’s death caused by the negligence of the health centre workers.
Eyewitnesses told DAILY GIST on Thursday evening that Aishat who was seriously sick was rushed to the university health centre but didn’t get treatment.
As a result of the development, students of the institution are currently protesting at the University campus gate
The popular Ife/Ibadan Express Road has been blocked by students, DAILY GIST can report.
The protesting Students of the Obafemi Awolowo University Ile Ife have now blocked the Ife/Ede/Osogbo road Infront of their Campus as well as the Ife /Ibadan expressway causing heavy gridlock on both roads at the moment.
Nigerian law mandates that all emergency cases be treated promptly and even prescribes fine and jail sentence for hospitals and their management that fail to treat such cases.
The university management is yet to react to the incident as at the time of filling this report.
