Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) and Nigeria Correctional Centre (NCC) are fighting over the custody of Godwin Emefiele, suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
DAILY GIST reported that Emefiele was arraigned at the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos on two counts of illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
In its ruling on Tuesday, the court granted Emefiele N20 million bail and one surety in like sum.
Nicholas Oweibo, the presiding judge, also ruled that the suspended CBN governor should be remanded at the correctional centre pending the fulfilment of his bail conditions
However, Operatives of DSS and the prison officials have clashed at the court premises on who to take Emefiele to custody
DSS operatives insisted on taking away the suspended CBN governor into their custody.
The secret police also arrested a top official of Ikoyi Prisons on the premises of the court following the tussle.
The Ikoyi prison official who was rough-handled and shuffled into the DSS vehicle was later released by the secret police
