A Federal High Court in Abuja, on Monday has ordered the reversal of the planned increase in DStv and GOtv subscription prices by Multichoice Nigeria Limited.
DAILY GIST recalls that Multichoice had announced price increment across its DStv and GOtv packages.
The company cited rise in the cost of business operations in Nigeria as the reason for the subscriptions hike.
In a notice sent to Customers, the new prices will be effective from May 1, 2024.
Multichoice seems to have become a first-class enemy of the public, having hiked prices three times in one year.
The company had increased prices in April and November 2023, over surging operational costs.
“We understand the impact this change may have on our valued customers and partners, but the rise in the cost of business operations, has led us to make this difficult decision,” Multichoice said in the email.
However, the court’s intervention has temporarily put a stop to the planned price increases, offering relief to subscribers who expressed concerns over the successive hikes in the subscription prices.
