Gunmen suspected to be Fulani Kidnappers have killed one hotel owner (Olugbenga Owolabi) and his staffer (Rachael Opadele), who was a student of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH).
Recall that the two were reported to have been kidnapped last Thursday at Abaa in Ogbomoso area of Oyo state.
DAILY GIST gist gathered that they were killed after the family allegedly paid a ransom of N5m.
The okada operator who conveyed the person who took the ransom there was also shot dead in anger, while the other person is at an undisclosed receiving treatment.
According to reports, The ransom was taken to the Kidnappers at the late hours of wednesday night at Ogbomoso-Ilorin road around Igbon area
The kidnappers then counted the money to ensure it was up to the agreed amount.
However it was gathered that their anger was stoked when they became aware of the presence of soldiers at LAUTECH area who stormed Ogbomoso yesterday ostensibly to provide security sequel to the increasing waves of kidnapping in the area.
“Soldiers were deployed to Ogbomoso yesterday but the bandits thought we invited the soldiers and so they opened fire on the victims and the men who took the ransom money there.”
She added that the corpses would be evacuated this money.
He absolved the traditional ruler of Abaa, Alabaa of Aba who assisted in finding the person who volunteered to take the ransom there disclosing that the people of Abaa are currently pointing accusing fingers at Alabaa.
Students of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, and some town youths are currently staging a public protest in Ogbomoso.
Residents said the Ogbomoso Ilorin road had been taken over by the angry protesters who are protesting the alleged killing of the victims.
