The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC on Tuesday issued a serious warning to prospective corps members and the general public at large on camp registration.
The corps headquarters issued the warning on Tuesday evening via the twitter handle.
NYSC warned that any graduates or prospective corpers wishing to participate in the orientation programme should be very careful of fake social media handles that offer services that are too good to be true.
According to the corps headquarters, deployment of corps members and relocation is free and there is no need to struggle to work it out. It further warned the youths against joining suspicious groups considering that they also have physical security implications.
The warning statement reads; “Corps Members and Prospective Corps Members, as well as the general public, should avoid Facebook, Whatsapp and Telegram Groups that are suspicious and offer services that are too good to be true. There are many of them that use the name NYSC Deployment and Relocation is free and you do not need to *‘runs or work it’* and you do not need *‘a plug’* to do anything NYSC for you.”
Many of these groups on Whatsapp and Facebook are run by fraudsters and scammers that may be interested in not only your phone number but your digital identity that can be used for fraud.”
They share links online inviting you to join groups that advertise everything from sports betting, quick wealth, and employment to services that are rendered free of charge by the NYSC.”
Deployment and Relocation is free and you do not need to ‘runs or work it’ and you do not need *‘a plug’* to do anything NYSC for you.
