The Nigerian government has given a new update about the payment of stipends to N-power beneficiaries.
N-power is a poverty allegation scheme established during the administration of former president, Muhammadu Buhari.
The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda spoke in a recent interview on Arise TV.
He was responding to those asking for the Npower backlog payment.
According to the Minister, they can’t touch Npower now because the EFCC suspended those accounts for investigation, and until they tidy up the investigation, we can’t withdraw money from those accounts. We are sure they will tidy up the account very soon.
“We are trying to reform the Npower program and want to ensure that we are linking trained Npower beneficiaries to the market after training.”he said
The minister stated that we will be conducting some pilot phases by January 2025. We have contacted Innoson and one other automobile company.
We want to work with Innoson Vehicles to train young people across the country in automobile mechanics. We will also replicate that in other sectors like Agriculture and others.
Until the investigation facing the Npower program is completed which the Minister said will occur soon. No hope for payment before Christmas!
