Tragedy struck in a community after a woman identified as Paulina, a mother of three, died during an alleged romantic encounter with another man in a guest house, leaving her husband devastated.
Paulina, who had been married for 15 years, reportedly sneaked out of her home around 10 p.m. for the meeting. Her husband, a boda boda rider, said he returned later that night to find their children hungry and alone.
“I tried calling her, but her phone was switched off. I cooked for the children and waited, but she never came back. The next morning, I went to the police to report her missing,” he recounted.
At the station, he was informed that a woman matching her description had been found dead at a local guest house. His worst fears were confirmed when he identified the body at the mortuary.
Police told him Paulina had checked into the guest house with another man, who later left, claiming he was going out to buy food but never returned. Her lifeless body was discovered soon after.
The grieving husband further revealed long-standing marital troubles, saying he had endured his wife’s infidelity but remained committed to the marriage.
“One day, I begged her to stop cheating, but she told me she was searching for a wealthy man, not a broke person like me. I told her to be patient with my hustle, but she refused,” he lamented.
To worsen matters, he alleged that Paulina’s relatives were now battling him for the right to bury her and to take custody of their three children.
Despite not having paid her dowry, he insisted: “She was my wife. I had planned to pay the dowry, but now this tragedy has happened.”
Police say investigations into the circumstances of Paulina’s death and the identity of her mystery lover are ongoing.
