In a major political shift, the Delta State Governor Oborevwori has officially dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Oborevwori’s defection was revealed on Wednesday after a closed-door meeting at the Government House in Asaba.
The governor cited long-term development and stakeholder consultations as reasons for his defection.
The development was confirmed by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon.
He was warmly received by senior APC officials in what observers are calling a “strategic realignment” that could reshape the political dynamics of the South-South region ahead of the 2027 general elections.
A former Delta senator, James Manager, who also announced the high-profile defections on Wednesday in Asaba, the Delta State capital, after a marathon meeting held at the government house.
The manager said, “All PDP members in the state, including the governor, former Governor Okowa, the speaker, the state party chairman, all the local government chairmen and others, have agreed to move to the APC.”
