The daughter of President Bola Tinubu, Folashade Tinubu-Ojo has declared that there will be no protest in Lagos state
She urged market women to warn their children against participating in the planned August 1 protest.
The planned nationwide protest tagged “End Bad Government in Nigeria”, is scheduled to hold from August 1-10, 2024.
The organisers of the protest in flyers circulating on social media are demanding judicial reform, a declaration of a state of emergency on inflation, reopening of the national borders, among others.
However, addressing a group of market women at Dosumu Market in a video that surfaced online on Sunday, the Iyaloja General of Lagos, noted that there would be no protest in Lagos.
Tinubu-Ojo recalled the destruction witnessed during the EndSARS protest about four years ago, arguing that victims are still yet to recover from the losses they incurred.
According to her, the Lagos State Government has being doing well, adding that the Federal Government, headed by her father, should be given at least three years before being criticised
“Before you say a government has not done well, you have to allow them to spend at least three years in office.” Tinubu-Ojo said.
“We should tell ourselves, our children at home and our family members that there is nothing like protest in Lagos state. It is not good.
Recall the one they did before where they destroyed so many of our public assets.
Do not allow your children be used to by some people who give them money to go and start fighting and destroying things.”
“So please let us talk to ourselves. There is nothing like protest in Lagos state because the government is making us proud. They are making us proud.
The state government is doing us well and for the one in the center, they just came into office. Before you say a government has not done well, you have to allow them to spend at least three years in office,” she added.
“There is nothing like protest in Lagos state. It’s just to spoil the states, look at the previous one they did. Warn your children not to protest in Lagos”
