A Nigerian woman, identified as Favour Igiebor, who tore her husband’s International passport in a viral video has finally opened up

In a video she posted on her family social media account, Favour who complained of her husband’s ill-treatment towards her said she has been bearing a lot.

According to her, she had sacrificed so much for her family while they were in Europe.

She stated that tearing her husband’s passport was the one way she could stand up for herself.

“The issue has been going on for a very long time, I have just been dancing to the tune till I arrive in my motherland Nigeria, and I did what I did.

“You have to ask what happened, don’t just look at the action alone, I am not a mad woman, who would just come and act like that. I have my reasons, I have gone through many things,” Favour said.

Also urging Nigerians and other commentators to always hear from both parties in times of conflict, the mother of three said she has gone through a lot of family issues.

She said, “When it gets to your neck, you have to act. I didn’t want to make him go through a lot of stress, that’s why I waited till we got to Nigeria to do it rather than Europe where I could have done it.

Don’t make comments without knowing what happened. I have gone through a lot of family issues here and there.

“I cannot be suffering, I suffered with him, and just like that, they want my suffering to be chartered away just like that.

“Is it till when I die, will you people know this woman did not speak out? Actions speak louder than words, I gave him my action, to know I have been bearing it,” she added.

In a second video, the lady admitted that she was aware that destroying the Nigerian passport was wrong but she had no option.

She further apologised to the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) and Nigerians for her conduct and said she hoped other women understand her plight.

DAILY GIST reports Favour’s address comes shortly after the NIS announced that it had launched an investigation into the matter.

The NIS in a statement said, “If the allegations are substantiated, her actions would have constituted a breach of Section 10(b) of the Immigration Act 2015 (as amended), with corresponding penalties outlined under Section 10(h) of the same Act.”

The Act states that, “A person who unlawfully alters, tampers with or mutilates any passport or any pages thereof, commits an offence and is liable on conviction to imprisonment for a term of ten years or a fine of two million naira or both.
