The federal government through the National Broadcasting Commission(NBC) on Monday suspended Channels Television Politics Today for breaching the broadcast code, DAILY GIST has reported.
NBC had also slammed a N5 million fine against the news agency.
The suspension according to NBC is because of Channels Television’s interview with the spokesperson for the Indigenous People of Biafra(IPOB), Emma Powerful.
The acting Director-General of NCC, Prof. Armstrong Idachaba who suspended and fined the news agency alleged that the IPOB leader made several secessionist and inciting declarations on air without caution or reprimand by Channels TV.
According to him, the programme was clearly in violation of the provisions of Section 3.11.1(b) and 5.4.3 of the Nigerian Broadcasting Code.
