Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, professionally known as Portable, has expressed his disappointment after a brief encounter with Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections.
The duo met at the airport in Benin City, Edo State, where they exchanged pleasantries.
Obi was in Benin to support Olumide Akpata, the Labour Party’s gubernatorial candidate in Edo state.
Portable, on the other hand, was in the state for a show.
In a now-viral video, the excited singer was seen bowing as he approached the former Anambra governor beside his car. They also exchanged pleasantries.
However, shortly after the meeting, the visibly disappointed Portable complained that Obi did not offer him any money
In another video circulating online, the singer expressed his dissatisfaction with the encounter.
Portable lamented that the former Anambra governor did not offer him any financial support.
Portable, known for his outspoken nature, compared the situation to what he believed would have been a more favourable outcome had he met President Bola Tinubu.
He said: “Obi cannot give us anything. Obi didn’t give us anything.”
According to him, the scenario would have been different it was President Tinubu he met
“If it was Tinubu we met, he would have given us something,” the singer stated before leaving the scene.
The encounter has sparked discussions online, with fans sharing mixed reactions to Portable’s comments.
While some have sympathised with the singer’s frustrations, others have criticised him for expecting financial assistance from political figures.
Portable gained fame in December 2021 with the release of ‘Zazoo Zeh’, his hit single featuring Olamide and Poco Lee.
He has since been in the public eye for controversial reasons.
