Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, was on Wednesday blocked from presenting the 2025 budget before the State House of Assembly.
The presentation was scheduled before lawmakers, with Speaker Martin Amaewhule presiding, in compliance with a Supreme Court ruling that mandated proper approval of the state budget before federal funds could be accessed.
However, when Governor Fubara arrived at the Assembly complex, he was denied entry, preventing him from proceeding with the presentation.
Speaking to journalists outside the premises, Fubara emphasized that the budget was meant to serve the interests of Rivers State residents.
He also revealed that he had formally communicated with the Speaker through a letter and a phone conversation before attempting to appear in person.
