DAILY GIST had reported that The management of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka ordered all students staying on campus to immediately vacate the school hostels.
The decision was following reports of some students who tested positive for COVID-19 in the institution
The order was given by the school’s The Senate on Wednesday over fears of COVID-19 third wave in Lagos.
It also approved commencement of virtual lectures from July 26, 2021.
It was also reported that following the confirmed cases, departmental heads and deans of different faculties began moving round to ensure students and staff were using their face masks and sanitizers.
A student in the institution who spoke to DAILY GIST said a second year, female law student is one of the confirmed cases inside the school campus.
Consequently, Students of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) have been spotted vacating the school following fears of the delta variant of coronavirus spreading in the school.
Some students were spotted on Thursday moving out of hostels on their way home after the management of the school ordered everyone home.
However, it was discovered that students did not observe COVID-19 protocols during the vacating process as students crowded various places in the premises causing traffic jam.
