A heavy fire outbreak has caused panic at the University of Calabar, UNICAL after it ravaged the institution’s Department of Students’ Affairs on Thursday night.
In a series of videos circulating on social media, the inferno began late Thursday evening, causing panic in the campus community.
Although, the cause of the fire and extent of damage remain unknown, some persons were aseen in the footage trying to salvage the little left of the building that had been reduced to ashes.
They could also be heard appealing for assistance from the fire service.
UNICAL is on fire, UNICAL is burning right now. There is a fire outbreak just behind students affairs,” a witness could be heard saying.
“We need fire services to come to our aid right now. The school is burning, we need urgent attention right now. You can see the flames, please we need solution”.
