DAILY GIST reported that the Popular nollywood actress, Funke Akindele-Bello emerged as the running mate to Olajide Adediran aka Jandor, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Lagos State
Funke who recently got separated from her husband, JJC Skillz was one of the nominees for running mate.
She was nominated alongside four other people, whose names are Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, a candidate who stepped down for Adediran, Kolawole Vaughan, Adenike Shobajo and [Rasheed] Teslim-Balogun.
However according to report, the position has now been narrowed down to Funke.
A video made available to DAILY GIST on wednesday shows the moment the actress was jubilating with the supporters.
Speaking on the development, a top female chieftain of the party said that even though all the other nominees have been in politics long before now, Funke was chosen because of her huge followership and ability to mobilize people, particularly the youths.
Besides, she added, “It is about time the oldies are sacked and youths given a chance at leadership, which is what Adediran and Funke represent.”
For a well loved actress who was not into politics prior the nomination, it’s impressive to note that Jenifa had coincidentally brought her political aspirations which she had portrayed in the popular TV series, Jenifa’s Diary to real life.
In a post on June 17, she shared an old clip of herself and other actors from a scene of the movie. Akindele could be seen campaigning for the post of Local Government chairman for Aiyetoro – a small town the movie character Jenifa hails from. She spoke against vote selling/buying.
Funnily, Funke Akindele aka Jenifa has been nominated for PDP’s deputy governorship candidate with Dr Olajide as governorship candidate.
