The embattled human rights lawyer and activist, Dele Farotimi has broken down in tears after he was released from prison.

Earlier, the activist said he has never lied against anyone before, insisting on his allegation against the renowned legal luminary, Aare Afe Babalola.
Farotimi on Tuesday morning after his release spoke about his unwavering commitment to always tell the truth.
He described the truth as the ultimate weapon against systemic injustice.
He said, “It is not ever an easy journey when you are fighting evil, but some years back, before I started this work, God told me that the truth is enough. It is the only weapon with which you can slay the monster called Nigeria, which is the truth. In my war against the evil empire that we all lived in, I have never lied against anyone. If I don’t know, I will say I don’t know.”
Farotimi regained his freedom after fulfilling bail conditions granted by a magistrate court in Ado-Ekiti last Friday. These included an N30 million bond, two sureties (one of whom must own property), the submission of his passport, and a prohibition on granting media interviews.
The activist’s legal troubles stem from allegations of defamation contained in his July 2 book, Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System, against renowned legal luminary, Aare Afe Babalola.
In his petition, Afe Babalola accused Farotimi of making false and damaging claims, leading to his arrest in Lagos on December 3 by policemen attached to the Ekiti State Police Command.
Farotimi was transported to Ekiti State, where Babalola’s legal team filed defamation charges against him at a magistrate court.
Additionally, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, lodged 12 more charges against the activist at a Federal High Court on December 6, including allegations of cyberbullying and defamation.
The charges are based on Farotimi’s claims in his book, accusing Babalola and other Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) of corrupting Supreme Court justices.
The case has sparked widespread debate, with supporters lauding Farotimi’s courage and calling for a fair trial that upholds justice and freedom of expression.
