A disturbing video has surfaced on social media showing soldiers flogging civilians allegedly by the instruction of Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi.
The video shared on the microblogging platform, Twitter, by a legal practitioner, Chidi Odinkalu, has since caused uproar on social media.
Odinkalu claimed in his caption that Governor Umahi who was out today for a project inspection, noticed the late coming of the civil servants and allegedly instruct soldiers in his convoy to flog them.
The tweet reads: “So, today in Ebonyi, Governor Dave Umahi went for a project inspection & then instructs the soldiers to flog – yes flog! – civil servants who arrived late. Not done, Dave Umahi supervised the flogging. Tomorrow, he’ll be rewarded with a seat in the Nigerian Senate.”
However, Governor David Umahi has made clarifications on the viral video making the rounds on social media.
The governor who described the controversial video as doctored and manipulated, however, disclosed that the incident was an aborted attempt by miscreants to block the Airport gate in the guise that they were enforcing a sit-at-home order.
