Recall that DAILY GIST reported how a 400l student of University of ilorin (UNILORIN) in Microbiology department beat the hell out of a female lecturer inside campus on Saturday.
In an information made available to DAILY GIST from sources in the institution, The student, simply identified as Captain Walz, reportedly attacked the lecturer in her office and beat her to stupor leading to severe injuries.
The student, it was learnt, had sought the help of the assaulted lecturer, who is his project supervisor, because he did not observe the compulsory Students Industrial Work Scheme (SIWES).
Reports made available to DAILY GIST on Saturday indicated that the student, allegedly entered the lecturer’s office and started banging her table, moved closer to her and started slapping her.
“He Went to the woman’s office to sought (sic) her help for his issue because he didn’t do the SIWES.
“He entered the Woman’s office and started banging the table, the woman abused him and he move (sic) closer to the woman and started slapping the woman.
“The Woman tried to escape but he kept pursuing the woman, the lecturer ran into an office but Captain Walz broke the window and started punching her hardly.
“The woman was calling for help but people weren’t around as the school just resumed on Monday.
“While trying to escape, he pursued the woman till she fell down and had an (sic) head cut, he then strangle (sic) her till she was in coma.”the source added.
Captain Walz was arrested by the security personnel of the university and handed over to the Police.
Following the incident the Vice Chancellor of the university has reacted.
He reacted in a statement issued by The Director of Corporate Affairs of the institution, Kunle Akogun.
He noted that the assaulted Lectuer is now in stable condition and recuperating,
He said “a visit by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sulyman Age Abdulkareem, in company of the Dean, Faculty of Life Sciences, Professor Oladiji, the Director, University Health Services, Dr Odunola and a few other staff to the victim and her family, this morning, Saturday, confirmed that.”
The VC described the incident as sad and unfortunate, assuring that justice will be done on the matter.
He ordered proper care of the victim on the bill of the university.
The VC reiterated his commitment to the welfare of all staff and law-abiding students of the institution.
