Several people gathered at Ikorodu area of Lagos state to witness the exhumation of late singer, Mohbad’s body
Mohbad’s body was agreed to be exhumed after the late crooner’s parents and other accomplices had a meeting with the police on Monday, 18th September.
DAILY GIST reported that Mohbad passed away on Tuesday, 12th September and was speedily buried the next day.
However, the decision to hastily buried the late singer sparked outrage from netizens who yearned for an autopsy test to be conducted in order to ascertain the cause of his death.
Nigerians had expressed their concerns about the quick and unusual burial site chosen for the late artist, situated adjacent to a cassava farm, which many considered unfitting for a celebrity of Mohbad’s stature.
But the father of the late singer, Mr. Joseph Aloba in a previous report by DAILY GIST provided an explanation for the hasty burial, attempting to put these concerns to rest.
Speaking on the development, he cites Yoruba customs, explaining that the young age of the deceased necessitated a rapid burial according to local traditions.
In a video uploaded to Instagram by @temilolasobola, Mohbad’s father disclosed that the decision to bury his son swiftly was rooted in cultural norms in Yoruba land.
He explained that because the deceased was relatively young at the time of his demise, local customs dictated that the body could not be kept for an extended period.
Mr. Aloba further emphasized that if Mohbad had lived to an older age, they might have considered preserving his body in a morgue for a longer duration.
However, the Lagos State Police Commissioner, Idowu Owohunwa ordered the exhumation of the singer’s corpse as part of the ongoing investigation into the cause of Mohbad’s death
Mohbad’s body was consequently exhumed and a lot of people were witnesses to the moment.
