DAILY GIST has obtained a video showing the moment the Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki ignored his deputy, Philip Shaibu’s handshake.
The incident happened at Governor Duoye Diri’s second term inauguration in Bayelsa State on Wednesday
The decision on who to be the next governor in the state is what is causing rift between Obaseki and his deputy, Shaibu.
Shaibu is contesting for the ticket of the governorship seat under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP while Obaseki is believed to be supporting another aspirant.
Duoye was sworn in for a second term with his deputy Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at the Samson Siasia Sports Complex in Yenagoa, Bayelsa.
Obaseki openly snubbed a handshake from Shaibu at the event that attracted high-caliber guests, including Vice President Kashim Shettima and former President Goodluck Jonathan.
The handshake snubbing by Obaseki comes in the face of Shaibu’s insistence that he would get the Governor’s backing to become the next Governor of Edo State.
