Following the return of Donald Trump as United States President, Americans have witnessed a frenzy of arrests and deportations in recent weeks.

Between 2021 and 2024, the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) deported thousands of African nationals.

Reasons for deportation include visa overstays, asylum denials, and criminal offences. Senegal recorded the highest numbers. Deportees face reintegration challenges, job scarcity, and social stigma.

Trump’s administration plans mass deportations, using raids and local law enforcement. African migrants in the U.S. contribute billions in remittances. ICE reported 271,484 removals in 2024, with 88,763 having criminal histories. Charges included assault, robbery, and homicide. African governments engage in negotiations, but support for deportees varies across countries.

According to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, here are the top 10 African countries with the Highest U.S. Deportations in 2024
