The Lagos State Government has reacted to a viral video circulating online where pupils were seen in a flooded school assembly ground.
In the video, the pupils of primary school age were seen singing the national anthem in heavy flooded ground.
The school was identified to be a privately run school, located in Makoko slum area of the state.
The trending video generated heated reactions on social media with many expressing sadness and conidemnation
Some Nigerians questioned the rationale of the Lagos State Government giving approval to such school proprietor.
However, following the development the Lagos State Ministry of Education has reacted in a statement.
The state Commissioner for Education Mrs Folasade Adefisayo, in a swift reaction on the trending video, said it was an old video which action had already been taking on the school management.
It reads; “The school assembly viral on social media is a low cost private school in Makoko, Lagos State.
“The video was taken some months ago by a church that wanted to use the video to raise funds for the school.
“The building has been demolished and is being built.
“Lagos State authorities are sending officials there on Monday to ascertain level of progress.
“Thanks for your concerns.”
