What we experienced in Benin is another reason why you shouldn’t listen to conspiracy nuts. They are now claiming that something we witnessed first hand is government planned.

It is just ridiculous. Cultists are walking around brandishing weapons, they set ablaze Police Stations, catered away weapons and some persons are blaming the government for the chaos that they are currently encouraging.

Much has been said about the Benin Prison Break. DAILY GIST from the scene reliably gathered that people that were around were in support of what happened. A call was put across to all officers of the prison service in Benin at the time but they were not answering.

DAILY GIST also learnt that officials at the Benin Prisons are civilians in the sense that they don’t have guns and are not trained to handle weapons. The Prison armed guards and some mobile Police are usually stationed outside the prison premises on the left side.

When the protesters approached, the armed prison guards and mobile police men ran away leaving behind unarmed prison staff numbering about twenty at the mercy of over a thousand inmates many of whom were armed robbers, kidnappers and what have you.

If you were a prison staff what would you have done? What the officers did was to hide themselves inside the prison and allowed the prisoners escape. It is said that they even had to open the gates for them. Nobody wants to die.

DAILY GIST have assessed the current situation of #ENDSARS and come to the following conclusions that:

1. A good general is the one that leads his troops to war and comes back with all or most of them.

2. The war that ends on the negotiation table is the only war that achieves the purpose of the war itself.

3. Government has set the stage for a major decisive and precise action to quell the protests within the 24 hour window.

4. December 15, 2015 a major and decisive action was taken against the Shiites in Zaria. A similar one on protesters is very close at hand.

5. If the protest does not stop now and agitation shifted to the negotiation table, the reason for the 2 weeks old protests will be lost completely.

6. Many will die. That is the stage we are in now. Do not be the one to die. There are no dead heroes.

7. As painful as it may sound, the wisest thing now is for the protest to end. Imagine the thought of knowing that hundreds, if not thousands, who will have to die and the essence of their struggle and deaths will be lost. But on the trajectory we are now that is the inevitable end.

8. Citizens have made points as young people. The world now knows there is no lazy youths in Nigeria. The best option now is to articulate on the negotiation table.

9. Many will think it’s cowardice. It is not. But he who fights and runs away, lives to fight tomorrow. The time to run away now so that we can live fight another day.

10. The duty you owe your loved ones who are on the streets is to pull them out now. That pot into which they pour blood has been opened.
