Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have killed two persons, identified as Suru Arije, 59, and Ilufoye Azeez, 30 in Ikorodu area of Lagos State, raising fear among residents.
A yet-to-be-identified woman was said to have been abducted during the incident on Wednesday
DAILY GIST gathered that the unfortunate incident occurred in the Alagemo community of Igbelaara, off Ijede road in Ikorodu when the attackers invaded the area
According to the police, no fewer than four members of a vigilante group were also injured during the incident.
In a video clip making the rounds on social media, a male voice was heard raising the alarm about the incident in his area.
Kidnapping is happening right now in Igbe-Alagemo. What is all this? They have kidnapped two people. They are in the bush, they are the ones shooting,” the voice said.
A Facebook user posted a video from the scene of the incident, saying that the latest kidnapping is the 6th in the community in two months.
Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident to the publication on Thursday.
“It happened around 11am. Two persons died, four others were injured, and one woman was kidnapped,” the PPRO said in a telephone interview.
He added that the injured persons were responding to treatment at the clinic.
“We have commenced an investigation into the incident. We are on it.”
