The Registrar of the Ondo State-owned University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Mr. Ezekiel Imole Adeniran, has been reportedly murdered at his home in Ondo town six months after his appointment.
Adeniran was found dead at his residence on Thursday morning, July 17, 2025, according to a statement by the university management signed by Mr. Isaac Oluyi, Head of Media and Protocol.

He disclosed that two men reportedly emerged from the bush and forced a substance into Adeniran’s mouth but the exact location of the attack has not been verified.
He, however, noted that the exact location of the attack had not been verified, but assured that investigations were ongoing to identify and apprehend the culprits.
His words: “The man died in the early hours of Thursday. The incident was reported at Fanibi Division. We are doing everything possible to unravel the truth surrounding his death. From available information, two men reportedly emerged from the bush and forced a substance into another person’s mouth.”
“We are doing everything possible to unravel the truth surrounding his death,” Ayanlade said, urging anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist the police in their investigation.
The university’s management described Adeniran’s death as devastating and shocking.
“The devastating news has thrown the university into mourning. He was still at his duty post on Monday, July 14, 2025. As of now, the cause of his death remains unknown,” the statement said.
The management extended their thoughts and prayers to Adeniran’s family and the university community.
Mr. M.A. Akinkuade, Head of Human Resources at UNIMED, also paid tribute to Adeniran, describing him as a dedicated and hardworking staff member.
Adeniran assumed office as the third Registrar of UNIMED on January 6, 2025.
