A male teacher, identified as Sunday Akanni has been arrested for allegedly having f0rc3ful c@rnal knowledge of one of his students and putting the 16-year-old girl in the family way.
The teacher was arrested by men of the Department of State Services (DSS).
Akanni, a teacher at Touch Life Premier School, Ido-Osun, Egbedore Local Government Area of Osun State, was accused of d3f!ling the girl (name withheld) on the first week of her admission in the private school.
It was gathered that Akanni, who lived with his parents in Ido-Osun community, asked the minor to come to his house and collect a note book after school hours.
He was said to have d3filed her inside his room in May, 2023, and threatened to kill the girl if she disclosed her ordeals to anyone.
Meanwhile, the victim started falling sick after four months, a situation that made her older sister to take her to the hospital where it was discovered that she was four months pregnant.
It was gathered that Akanni, said to be an undergraduate of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, but was teaching at the private school on part-time basis, had allegedly made an attempt to abort the pr3gnancy but was unsuccessful.
“That was when she confessed to us that her teacher, Sunday Akanni, r@p3d her in May and threatened to kill her if she told anyone.
I am her only elder sister. Our mother is dead and our father is not too strong.”
“When we visited his parents’ house, they told us he had hurriedly left the house to school. We were told he was a student at Osun State Polytechnic Iree.
The proprietor of the school was very angry and threatened to arrest him whenever he sees him.
“The teacher was aware that she was pregnant before we got to know. He even told her to use alum and alcohol to abort the pregnancy. Thank God she didn’t do it,” the victim’s sister said
The teenager in interview with The Point, said she made efforts to scream when Akanni was d3filing her but that the area was desolated and that she did not tell her sister because the alleged r@pist threatened her.
A human rights activist, Citizen Lola Wey, promised to take the matter up and ensure that the girl, a JSS2 student, gets justice.
