The Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde has reacted following a report that a man suspected to be ritualist allegedly turn some students to yam tubers in Ibadan.

Some residents in ibadan had alleged that the man dropped a certain amount of money on the ground which the children reportedly picked and ”turned into two tubers of yam.”

He was arrested and set ablazed by the angry residents of Ashi, Bodija, and Akobo who were parading him following his inability to provide concrete answers.

But speaking in a statement made available to DAILY GIST on Saturday, Makinde said there was no iota of truth in the sensational report that two students of Bashorun High School, Ibadan, were turned into tubers of yam by a suspected ritualist.

The governor made this known in a statement issued by the oyo State Commissioner for Education, Rahman Abiodun Abdul-Raheem.

The commissioner had visited the school on Friday afternoon, while on fact-finding mission, following a report in the social media that such incident happened in the school.

According to him, school management showed that none of the school students was reported missing. The commissioner also called for calm among parents and guardians, whose children and wards attend the school

He assured them that the security operatives would dig deeper into the incident to unravel details of what really happened.

The commissioner admonished the general public to remain patient, saying that the safety of every resident in the state was a priority for the Gov. Seyi Makinde-led administration
