President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of six new Chief Medical Directors (CMDs) to oversee federal government-owned hospitals across the country.
Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga announced the appointments, stating that the new CMDs would head medical facilities in Akure, Gombe, Azare, Lafiya, Maiduguri, and Kafanchan.
Prof. Olusegun Sylvester Ojo has been named the Chief Medical Director of the Federal Teaching Hospital in Akure, Ondo State. Before this appointment, he was the pioneer CMD of the Ondo State Specialist Hospital.
Other appointments include:
Prof. Yusuf Mohammed Abdullahi: Reappointed as CMD of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe, following his successful first term.
Dr. Dauda Abubakar Katagum: Confirmed as the substantive CMD of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Azare, Bauchi State.
Dr. Ikrama Hassan: Appointed as CMD of the newly upgraded Federal Teaching Hospital, Lafiya, Nasarawa State.
Dr. Ali Mohammed Ramat: Named CMD of the newly established National Orthopaedic Hospital, Maiduguri, Borno State.
Dr. Haruna Abubakar Shehu: Appointed CMD of the newly established Federal Medical Centre, Kafanchan, Kaduna State.
The appointments take effect from the date each appointee assumes office and will last for four years.
