Osun State police command has said it has arrested five persons in connection with Friday night’s attack on the convoy of the Osun State First Lady, Mrs. Kafayat Oyetola.
DAILY GIST reported that some hoodlums suspected to be political thugs attacked the governor’s wife’s convoy around Owode, in Ede while she was en route to Osogbo, the state’s capital.
The police command spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola in a statement obtained by DAILY GIST on Sunday said some persons were immediately apprehended.
The statement partly reads: “One Omolola Opeyemi ‘M’ of Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, a driver of one truck without registration number blocked the movement of the First Lady, as a result of a traffic blockage.
“The driver was wounded on his forehead while some hoodlums took advantage of that and started stoning vehicles in the convoy that got one Department of State Service (DSS) personnel wounded.
“However, five suspects were arrested at the scene.”
No life was lost in the skirmish which witnessed sporadic gunshots.
