Lots of agitations have arose as a result of the current EndSars protest in Nigeria following the protest to an end to police brutality and the likes in Nigeria.

The EndSars have since been added to one of the controversial issues in the country following series of events that took place during, within and after the said peaceful protest by youths of the Nigerian nation.

One of the recent post EndSars activity which is the involvement of the popular CNN broadcast has raised a lot of dust as more questions and doubts arises as a result of their opposing findings after series of investigations by this foreign broadcast.

In as much that the perpetrators of the EndSars protest which was majority of the Nigerian Youths had only one thing in mind which was an immediate effective hearing and implementation to their 5 of 5 request. The federal Government has proved rigid and non bending to these requests and rather than solution things were gradually blown out of proportion resulting to the huge Lekki massacre which has received international concern since then.

EndSars protest came with a huge loss, which mared the basic aim of the protest and again proving that the popular cliché “good things doesn’t come easily” was still relevant and true.

The fact that EndSars was birthed to put an end to injustice, unnecessary deaths, torture/molestation, irresponsible police acts which includes bribing yet, the EndSars protest brought more wrath as there was more cases of police brutality during the protest where protesters were molested with tear gas and water bath. Equally, more deaths and injuries were recorded during this period as well and finally the mini genocide at the Lekki toll gate all negated the EndSars activity.

Also, it would good to note that prior to the EndSars activity, the protest gradually snowballed into a semi war as violence were recorded in most states which included setting stations ablaze, looting of the horded COVID-19 palliatives and street riot. All these were as a result of the lingering protest which made affected States announced state of emergency with immediate effect to a 24-48 hours curfew as the case maybe.

Nevertheless, in as much as these were the case, it’s of paramount importance that we draw our attention to the fact that the the EndSars activity equally has tons of it’s gains as well because the coin as we all know has two sides and this case is no different.

A lot of EndSars naysayers would be quick to ask this one question, and here are some possible lists of what EndSars protest has achieved irrespective of the fact that the 5 of 5 request wasn’t meet by the Federal Government of Nigeria.

1. The EndSars activity made Nigerian youths have a taste of what they could acheive together. This protest brought the youths of the country together widening their eyes and future into taking and assuming power of the country. It made all and sundry realise that the current Nigeria system of authority would rather pay visits to the dead than respond to the request of the general public.

2. The EndSars protest broke the ties of marginalization, ethnic and cultural propaganda just to unite the Nigerian Youths as they chant in one voice of EndSars.

3. The EndSars protest equally gave birth to a toddling bunch of Youth based political movement cum Party majorly lead by the active NIGERIAN YOUTH DEMOCRATIC PARTY (NYDP) Which is directed, sponsored and runned by Nigerian youths with members in Diasporas as well.

4. Infact, if truth be told the EndSars protest broke the barrier of political apathy specially found mostly among the youths as everyone has been made aware of the power of democracy. 2023 general election and subsequent state elections would henceforth receive maximum participation from the youths as the EndSars activity and the Lekki massacre has ignited this passion.
