A Higher National Diploma female student of the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, in Kwara State, Toyin Bamidele has been allegedly hacked to death by unknown persons.
Bamidele, a student of Food Technology was allegedly murdered in her rented apartment outside the campus on Thursday by suspected Cultists.
A yet-to-be-identified Higher National Diploma (HND) male students of the institution was reported to have been also killed.
It was gathered that the male student who is said to be a leader of a cult group, was macheted to death within the school premises.
Bamidele, said to be the girlfriend of the leader of a rival group, was trailed to her residence around Dampson hostel in town where she was mauled to death while washing her clothes.
Sources in the institution disclosed that the incident might not be unconnected with the popular “Sign Out” ceremony that has snowballed into a cult war by rival groups.
The institution’s acting head of Public Relations Unit, Mrs. Folake Oyinloye, confirmed the incident.
She stated that the management condemned the inhumane act in strong terms, as it is strange in the polytechnic community.
She added that the management, in conjunction with security agencies, had commenced an investigation into the murder to fish out the culprits and bring them to book.
“While the circumstances behind the incident remain unknown, investigations are currently ongoing to reveal the identity of the evil occurrence by the appropriate security agencies and, as a matter of urgency, to fish out the culprits.
“Her demise is an irreparable loss to the entire management and Staff of the Polytechnic.
