The Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention and Deliverance Ministry in Onitsha, Anambra State, owned by Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere aka Odumeje, has not been demolished, according to the church.
On Thursday, it was reported that the church had been destroyed by the Anambra State Physical Planning Board (ANSPPB) while the incident was still going on.
However, new revelations have been made about the the Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention and Deliverance Ministry, presided over by Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere alias ‘Odumeje’ in Onitsha by his aide.
The church refuted the reports by conducting a Facebook live session to demonstrate that its building was unharmed. However, the church’s fence was destroyed.
The video showed that a building in front of the church was demolished instead for blocking water flow at the Nwangele-Bida drainage.
“The rumour is going viral that Odumeje’s church was demolished, this is contrary to what happened. Odumeje’s church has not been demolished. The security house in front of the church has been destroyed,” a voice behind the camera said.
“The security house that is a little bit close to the drainage is what was demolished.”
The speaker accused the government of demolishing the church’s fence out of “envy and jealousy”
Odumeje was manhandled by security forces while he was trying to stop the demolition of the building.
Many who joined the live Facebook session condemned the ill treatment on the clergyman, saying it was unnecessary.
The church, also known as Land of Freedom, has been tagged “illegal building” by the State Government and earlier marked for demolition for encroaching on a huge canal.
Members of the state task force stormed the location on Thursday to enforce the demolition and there was a face-off between the pastor and some of the task force members.
It was gathered that security men had tried to whisk the pastor away after he was trying to resist the demolition activities.
