The authority of Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife has denied a claim by the Osun State police command that the body of Timothy Adegoke, a Masters student at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), who allegedly died at Hilton Hotel Ile-Ife, was taken to the morgue at OAUTHC for autopsy.
It would be recalled that the public relations officer of the command, Mrs Yemisi Opalola, on Thursday, said on air at Rave FM radio station, Osogbo, that Adegoke’s corpse had been deposited at the OAUTHC and that no part of his body was removed after being killed as claimed in some quarters.
But the OAUTHC Public Relations Officer, Kemi Fasooto, in a statement made available to DAILY GIST however revealed that the deceased was not brought to the hospital as claimed by the police.
The statement reads; “The attention of the management of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex, Ile-Ife has been drawn to some publications on several social media platforms claiming that the body of the deceased was brought to the morgue of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex for autopsy.
“Please we want to state, as a matter of fact, that the body of the deceased was never deposited in our hospital for any coroner case.
“Our hearts and prayers go to the Adegoke family. May God give them the fortitude to bear the weight of this difficult time.
