The estranged Deputy Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has said the sessionist group is responsible for the assassination of Dr. Chike Akunyili in Anambra State.
Dr. Chike is the widower of late Dora Akunyili, the former Director-General of National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
DAILY GIST learnt that some unknown gunmen had killed Dr Akunyili at Umuoji in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State on Tuesday evening.
It was gathered that Dr Akunyili had earlier visited the University of Nigeria Nsukka Alumni Association (UNAA) for an event before he was murdered.
Reacting in a post on his Facebook page on Thursday, Mefor, the former right hand of Nnamdi Kanu accused IPOB of not continuing with the idea behind its set-up.
He accused the pro-Biafra group of carrying out crime against humanity in the guise of freedom fighting.

There is currently a high rate of insecurity and spate of killings in the South East. And anytime some observers, security agencies and Nigerian authorities finger IPOB as being responsible, the proscribed group always dodge the accusations.
