The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has admitted invading the home of a Nigerian rapper, John Njeng-Ngeng popularly Skales to arrest two suspected internet fraudsters at House F10, Victoria Crest 4, Lekki, Lagos.
A statement by the acting spokesman of the EFCC, Dele Oyewale said the arrest was carried out by operatives of the Lagos Command on Tuesday, October 10 at the residence of the musician.
According to the anti-graft agency, the arrested suspects described the singer as their ‘mentor’.
The suspects according to Oyewale are: Udemba Chukwuemeka( a.k.a Jody) and Jamal Jamiu Onasola( a.k.a. Jamal).
He said the two suspects, suspected of being involved in dating scam, described Njeng as their “mentor”. While Chukwuemeka has been in Njeng’s residence for two years, Onasola has only stayed there for few months, Oyewale said.
He added that they will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
Skales had earlier lampooned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, after he claimed the officials of the agency destroyed his house at the wee hours of Tuesday.
The Nigerian entertainer, in a social media post on Tuesday morning, alleged that EFCC officials stormed his house with guns and gained entrance by breaking his backdoor while he was asleep.
Giving the details of what went down, Skales said: “So @officialEFCC pulled up to my house with 3 men with guns and some with sticks and hammers lol, they broke my back door while I was sleeping on the bed with my 6-month-old daughter. Imagine I had a panic attack because of my health issues…. Is this not a crime?
“I am not a criminal , I have never done fraud in my life, you came in with guns to oppress me in front of my daughter and her mother & my staff.”
When told to report the matter to authorities, the entertainer said he doesn’t believe justice will be served in the matter.
“I don’t even believe in the Justice system of Nigeria, because it’s all lies. They are all the same and they are together.”
He added that his hate for “@officialEFCC just began.”
In another post, he wondered why the officials of the agency decided to storm his house at night.
The entertainer said: “Why do you operate at night. Is armed robbery part of your job description because I need explanation, truth is who you wan report to because nothing works in this country! They only know how to abuse power. They said they got an intel that I’m into fraud lol. They said it’s a routine check. That’s all and they found nothing.”

“There’s nothing anyone can tell me again, @officialEFCC is a criminal organization, you better come pay for my properties that you have destroyed!! Stupid people. I just fucking got back from an event tried to put my daughter to sleep, then u wake me up to nonsense. I can’t even remember the last time I was this angry and scared in my life.”
Earlier in a statement on Tuesday, the EFCC spokesman, Dele Oyewale had stated that such claims were unfounded, adding that officials of the anti-graft agency do not operate in such a manner.
He said, “Number 1, we don’t invade. Number 2, we don’t conduct any raids. Number 3, there are ways and rules to identify a regular EFCC operative.
“So, to all intents and purposes, all of his claims, they are totally removed from what an EFCC operation looks like.”
Oyewale also noted that the incident might be an allegation, as the invaders could be impersonators of the EFCC roaming around.
“People can make allegations but the authenticity of the allegation viz a viz the reality on the ground concerning any organisation you’re talking about is important.
“There are impersonations all around, all over the place. So, they are not. We are very polite. We don’t do all those things,” Oyewale said.
He also called on the singer to show evidence of his claims.
“And I will want him to come forward, if he has photo evidence or video evidence, to show that’s it’s an EFCC thing, because we don’t have such things,” Oyewale added.
However, following the denial, Skales has shared a CCTV footage recording of EFCC officials evading his home and neighbourhood over fraud allegations.
