A lecturer at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, UNIZIK, who was recently assaulted by a female student, has shared his side of the story.
His statement comes shortly after the student released her own version of events, accusing the lecturer of holding her breasts
The incident happened after the lecturer interrupted her Tiktok dance video.
A video of the incident posted online showed the lady recording a video as the lecturer walks in.
The situation escalated when he grabbed her hand, leading to a struggle in which she bit him and tore his clothes.
The student, whose identity remains undisclosed, shared her version of events on X (formerly Twitter), explaining how the altercation began.
She said she was recording a video with a friend along her lecture hall corridor when she suddenly felt a push on her arm, accompanied by the words, “Excuse me.” Not knowing he was a lecturer and feeling disrespected, she responded instinctively.
According to her, the situation escalated when someone grabbed her phone from behind. She turned around and saw it was the same man, who forcefully took her device until it fell and broke.
She alleged that the lecturer then held onto her chest, which she found disrespectful. In her attempt to free herself, his clothes got torn.
In her words: “Before I could even process what had just happened, someone tried to grab my phone from behind. I held on tight, exclaiming in shock, and turned around to see the same man who had pushed me earlier. Mind you, I didn’t even know he was a lecturer. I pleaded with him, ‘Sorry, sir, why are you dragging my phone?’ But he remained silent, tugging at my phone until it fell and broke.”
“The situation took a dark turn when the lecturer grasped my breast region, saying unspeakable things. I was left stunned, trying to comprehend the horror unfolding before me.”
“I was mortified. I tried to cover myself, pulling my dress together, and exclaimed in desperation, ‘Sir, I’ll hold you ohh!’ I didn’t mean to threaten him; I just wanted him to release me. But he wouldn’t budge. In a split second, I bit his hand, hoping he’d let go. That was when I held his clothes and accidentally tore his shirt.”
She further claimed that some Theatre Arts students from the lecturer’s department approached her with weapons before security operatives intervened.
According to reports, the lady’s mother is a lecturer in the Engineering Department of the University.
In a post gaining traction on X (formerly Twitter), the lecturer has narrated his own side of the story.
According to him, he had just left a lecture hall and was walking within the campus when he noticed a student making a video in the middle of a walkway.
As he passed, he gently tapped her and continued on his way. However, he overheard her say, “Who does he think he is?”
Concerned, he turned back to verify if she was his student and to ensure she deleted the video, fearing he had been recorded. He then asked for her phone, but instead of complying, she allegedly bit him on both arms.
In response, he held her hand to prevent her from fleeing.
At that moment, he claimed she became aggressive, tearing his clothes, slapping, and scratching his face.
His statement reads: “I had just left Hall 19, where Dr. Ebekue was teaching. Walking along the passage, I saw a girl recording a video with her phone, which she had placed on the window hood while posing in the middle of the walkway. I slightly tapped her and asked her to excuse me as I walked past.”
“After taking a few steps, I heard her say, ‘Who does this man think he is?’ I turned back to confirm if she was my student and to ensure she deleted any footage of me passing.”
“I then reached for her phone, only for her to bite me on both arms in quick succession. I held her left hand to prevent her from running away.”
“That was when she completely lost control. She tore my clothes, slapped and scratched my face, and generally went berserk—all of which I endured calmly, much to my own admiration, if I do say so myself.”
“We just came from the security office, where she claimed I was stripping her naked in the faculty. I’m told her mother is a lecturer in the Engineering department, which perhaps emboldened her. So, my Theatre Family, this is how it happened. We shall see how it unfolds.”
However, the female student has now pleaded for forgiveness
