Niger Delta Citizens have called on federal government of Nigeria for justice over closure of Gulf Treasures limited(GTL).
Hon. Ajanaku Alexander who speak in the interest of Niger Delta Citizens disclosed to DAILY GIST that the unlawful closure of Gulf Treasures limited, a member of Danco group of Companies by the petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD) , branch of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) under the instruction of its leadership headed by Comrade Akanni Oladiti is nothing but, Union rascality and a great injustice to the terms and conditions of unionism in Nigeria and therefore need to be resisted with all available legal means and condemn by all stakeholders in Oil and Gas industry in Nigeria.
He said, ”To begin with, it is an aberration of highest degree for anybody who is not a staff of an organization or its subsidiary nor have any employment contract with an establishment to assumed the leadership of a union chapter.”
”It is expedient and important to state here that all other organizations who are into petroleum business such as Oando, Total, AP, MRS, Conoil, Rain Oil, AA Rano and Matrix exclusively constitute their petroleum Tanker Union in their chapters. Why is Gulf Treasures limited be treated differently with imposition of executive from other organizations? When did unionism became a career in Nigeria? Why should anybody seek to be a Leader of an employee union of an organization he does not have any contract with?”
”This Union leaders who have no contract with Gulf Treasures Limited are posing a big threat to the growth and development of the company and over 700 workers of the company across Nigeria since the closure of Gulf Treasures limited and all Danco stations Nationwide.”
He added further that a country like Nigeria that is governed by laws cannot fold its hands and allowed Union to caused artificial petroleum scarcity in Edo State and Lagos.
”Globally, the economy of each country are genuinely be guided in this post covid era to ensure that they forestall job loss and untold hardship to our people.”
”Therefore, we called on the federal government of Nigeria under the leadership of our listening President, Mohammadu Buhari, Inspector general of police, Director of DSS and other relevant Agencies to protect Gulf Treasures limited, a member of Danco group of companies from unlawful attack and closure by the petroleum Tanker Drivers.”
”On the whole, if this injustice and unlawful closure of Gulf Treasures limited exceed Monday, 28th September, 2020, without adequate intervention by relevant agencies, we will be left with no option than storm Lagos to rescue our brother from this injustice against the son of Niger Delta.”he added
