The management of obafemi awolowo has reacted to the death of a 200l student identified as Adedeji Emanuel who allegedly commits suicide over depression on Tuesday.
One of the deceased classmates who spoke to DAILY GIST said the student took two bottles of sniper at spider house area and was quickly rushed to the health center, but unfortunately was confirmed dead shortly after.
In a statement made available to DAILY GIST on Tuesday, the management urged the students to utilize the Counseling Unit of the School when dealing with psychological issues or academic issues that is taking a toil on the mental health
The statement reads; The security Department announces the painful departure of a student of the Faculty of Admin; Adedeji Emmanuel who till his time of passing was a 200level student of Management and Accounting.
It is being speculated that he died as a result of intake of Sniper and all evidence points towards this but we have launched an investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding his death.
We advise that students utilize the Counseling Unit of the School when dealing with psychological issues or academic issues that is taking a toil on the mental health as we have continually strengthened relationships with Mental Health Support Initiative (a group of Mental Health Experts and Enthusiasts). Unconfirmed reports also alleged that a part 4 student of OAU, from the department of management and accounting, faculty of administration had also taken a sniper in an attempt to kill himself, DAILY GIST however could not immediately confirm his health status as at the time of filling this report.
