An Ikeja $3xual Offences and Domestic Violence Court on Thursday sentenced a man, Nurudeen Nasiru, to life imprisonment for introducing p0rn vid3o to his neighbour’s 13-year-old daughter and sexually assaulting her.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, Justice Abiola Soladoye held that the prosecution had proved beyond reasonable doubt the two-count of defilement and indecent treatment of a child against the convict.
Soladoye held that the convict sexually assaulted the survivor through the anus and also introduced her to p0rn0graphic vide0.
“The defendant was a neighbour who goes to the room of the survivor and open his phone to show her pornographic videos and afterwards will force her to practice what he had shown her on his phone.
“The defendant, in his confessional statement, admitted to have had $3xual intercourse with the survivor,” she said.
The judge said the ingredients of the offence of s3xual @ssault by penetration and indecent treatment of a child were thoroughly satisfied under Section 261 and 135 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State.
She, thereafter, convicted him of the two count charge.
“On count one of $3xual assault by penetration, the defendant is sentenced to life imprisonment.
“On count two of indecent treatment of a child, the defendant is sentenced to seven years imprisonment.
“The sentencing should run concurrently and his name is to be entered in the Sexual Offenders Register maintained by Lagos State Government,” she said.
The State Counsel, Mr Olusola Soneye, called three witnesses; a social worker, the survivor and her father while the convict testified as a sole witness.
The confessional statement of the convict was tendered as an exhibit by the prosecution.
According to the prosecutor, the convict committed the offences on Feb. 23, 2021, at about 3.45 p.m. on Aminu Street, Alapere, Ketu Lagos.
