The Ogun State Police Command has announced the arrest of one Taiwo Yemitan, for alleged involvement in ritual killings.
A fresh human head and dismembered body parts were discovered at his residence in the Lafenwa area of Abeokuta.
This was contained in a statement by SP Omolola Odutola, the command’s spokesperson, Yemitan on Sunday
According to the police, the suspect was arrested on Sunday morning at his home near Atinsola Petrol Station, following a tip-off from local security groups, including the Agbekoya and vigilante operatives.
“The suspect admitted to knowing the deceased, identified as Darasimi, whom he lured to his residence with the intent to kill her,” Odutola said.
“He confessed to the murder and implicated two others as accomplices. Their intention was to sell the victim’s head and other body parts.”
According to the police, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the accomplices and identify the victim’s family, the remains have been deposited at the General Hospital morgue in Ijaye, Abeokuta, for further examination.
Odutola said the suspect will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department at Eleweran, Abeokuta, for detailed investigations.
Odutola also recalled a similar case earlier in the year, where a suspect, A Adebayo, admitted to killing three women he had lured through hookup arrangements.
She warned young ladies to stop “hookup” and be “contented”, saying that high number of girls on “hookup” are slaughtered for rituals.
She urged parents to look after their daughters and also give them thorough training in order not to fall victims.
