Senate President Godswill Akpabio has been given a new appointment on Friday
Akpabio was appointed to the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council for the upcoming Ondo State governorship election.
The party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu announced this in a statement made available to Newsmen.
The governorship election is scheduled for November 16, and Akpabio will be part of a 305-member council led by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
In addition to Sanwo-Olu, who will use his experience in Lagos to guide the campaign, former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege has been named as the council’s secretary.
Other prominent figures supporting the campaign include Governors Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, Nasir Idris of Kebbi State, Dapo Abiodun, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume.
The National Working Committee, headed by Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has approved the formation of this council, which will be inaugurated on October 28 at the International Event Centre (The Dome) in Akure, Ondo State.
Other key members include former officials such as Chief Olusola Oke, Senator Stella Oduah, Senator Uche Ekwunife, and General Abdulrahman Dambazau (Rtd), who will have important roles in various campaign activities.
