The Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has reportedly sacked his Chief of Staff, Chidi Amadi, and the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of Government House, Promise Wosu.
Amadi, until his appointment, was the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Obio Akpor Local Government Area of the state.
The duo are loyalists of the former governor of the state, Nyesom Wike
According to Vanguard, the Rivers Government House Camp Commander had also been reportedly sacked.
As of the time of filing this report, the reason for the sack is yet to be ascertained.
However, the sack might be unconnected with the move by some members of the Rivers State House of Assembly to impeach the state governor, Sim Fubara.
Already, the house has suspended and removed the Majority leader, Hon. Edison Ehie, over his alleged complicity in the arson attack on the assembly on Sunday night.
It was also learned that 24 out of 32 members of the House removed the House leader and four other lawmakers.
However, Governor Siminalayi Fubarab stormed the Assembly Complex on Monday morning, while House members fled for safety as tear gas was fired outside the Complex.
Also, a protest is also ongoing outside the Complex as of the time of filing this report.
Fubara described the alleged suspension of the leader of the house, Edison Ehie as null and void.
Addressing his supporters on Monday at the assembly complex, the governor said he has not committed any offence to warrant impeachment by the Rivers State House of Assembly.
“Let them come out and tell Rivers people the offence I have committed to warrant any impeachment.”
The governor, who assured the people of the state of getting the dividends of democracy, said he would speak on the matter at the appropriate time.
“Let me assure the people of Rivers that I will continue to ensure that you get the dividends of democracy. At the appropriate time I will address the press,” he said
On Sunday night, DAILY GIST gathered that the chamber of Rivers State House of Assembly was set ablaze.
According to report, the arsonist gained entry into the chamber on Sunday night and set it ablaze.
It was learnt that the quick intervention of the men of fire service stopped the fire from spreading to the entire Assembly complex.
