The Police Service Commission (PSC) has given a fresh update on the extradition of the embattled Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Mr. Abba Kyari to US for trial over alleged ties with notorious fraudster, Abbas Ramon popularly known as Hushpuppi.

A US court had declared Mr Kyari wanted over allegations of complicity in the $1.1million bribe fraud committed by Hushpuppi.

The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) following the development requested that Abba Kyari should be extradited from Nigeria to US for trial.

This led to his suspension by the Police Service Commission (PSC) from office as a deputy commissioner of police and head of the IRT.

Mr Kyari’s suspension was based on the recommendation of Inspector General of Police, Usma Alkali.

DAILY GIST gathered that the Police Service Commission (PSC) would deliberate on the probe panel report this week.

The IGP had submitted the probe panel report on the suspended Head of the Intelligence Response Team, to the PSC.

Kyari was investigated over his alleged role in a $1.1million internet scam by hushpuppi.

According to PSC, the commission would deliberate on the issue this week.

The commission made this known in a terse statement on Monday.

It reads: “The IGP has submitted Abba Kyari’s report to the PSC and deliberations on the matter will commence this week.”

The Dubai Police in the United Arab Emirates had, in June 2020, arrested Hushpuppi and others.

They were later extradited to the US for prosecution by the FBI.
